Frequently Asked Questions
What makes The Skin Designory different?
We are results oriented, offer a wide selection of treatments, and are a “one-stop-shop” for your skincare, lash extensions, and brow shaping needs. Continuing education and continuous learning are top priorities to us in order to bring you the most advanced solutions possible. Our goal is to build a lasting relationship with you based on trust.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Appointment preparation greatly depends on the treatment. For exfoliating treatments like dermaplaning, chemical peels or microdermabrasion, you will need to stop use of exfoliating products at home at least 3 days prior to your appointment (retinol, AHAs and BHAs, scrubs, etc.). Avoid sun exposure for all appointments and drink plenty of water. During booking, we will make sure to rely any important information to you so you are well prepared.
What can I expect during my appointment?
At each appointment we will do a skin analysis and short interview on lifestyle, current products being used, your likes/dislikes about your skin, and more. Then we will begin your facial service in our relaxing skincare treatment room.
In order to get the most out of your treatments, we encourage you to start a daily skincare regime at home. If you don’t currently have one, we can recommend products that will work for you.
How do I know my skin type?
Oily skin has a “film” of oil over the entire face and is typically paired with large pores. Dry skin has little to no oil production and small pores. Combination skin is dry on the outer perimeter and oily in the “t-zone” (forehead, nose and chin). Products will differ based on the skin type. At your appointment, we will tell you your skin type and make treatment and product recommendations accordingly. This can also vary from season to season. For example, you could be slightly oily in the summer, but dry in the winter.
How do I determine which facial works best for me?
Book a free consultation! We will ask questions about your current skincare regime, your skincare goals, your sun exposure history, etc. and take an up close look at your skin to determine which treatment is best for you.
If you’re ready to jump right in and get started, we recommend either The Designory Facial or a HydroFacial. These services are effective, but mild and can be customized based on skin type.
What kind of products do you use?
We use Eminence Organics, Skin Script, Skin For Life, Ageless Serums, and Esthemax.
I am allergic to nuts, gluten, and/or soy. Can I still get a facial?
Yes! Please note any allergies on your skincare intake form and we will be sure to avoid use of products containing those ingredients.
Can I still get a facial if I'm pregnant?
Absolutely! We offer an Eminence Organic Facial that is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Book the Designory Facial and let you Esthetician know you are expecting.
Do you offer treatments for senstive skin?
Yes! We have a full array of products and modalities that will suit any skin type. Please make us aware of products or ingredients that you’re sensitive to when you come in for your treatment.
How often should I come in for a treatment?
For maintenance, we suggest one treatment per month. For acne, rosacea or skin conditions that need to be controlled, this can vary from twice a month to once a week.
What's The Lash Designory's Cancellation Policy?
As service providers, if we do not provide the service, we cannot make an income. Therefore we greatly appreciate when clients give us a FULL 24 hours notice if they need to cancel. This allows us to possibly fill your appointment time and still earn a living. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
Appointments of late arriving clients will end at the original scheduled closing time in order to remain on time for the appointments following. If you arrive late, reguardless of the length of treatment time actually given, you will be responsible for the entire session.
Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE but are transferable to another date/time if the appointment is rescheduled 48 hrs before the original appointment time.
If you would like to cancel or reschedule your appointment, a FULL 24 hours notice is required.
Any appointments cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of your appointment time will be charged 50% of appointment fee. Charged to the credit card provided at time of booking.
Rescheduling/Cancelling less than 12 hours from appointment time will be charged 100% of the appointment fee (or forfeit your deposit/gift certificate/ voucher).
No-Show's (clients that do not show up to their appointment) will be charged 100% of the appointment fee (or forfeit their gift certificate/voucher) to the card on file.
The Lash Designory reserves the right to reschedule anyone running 15 minutes late to their appointment. Unfortunately additional time can not be given to clients that arrive late to their appointment. Clients running more than 15 minutes late will be considered a No-Show.
If our schedule permits, same-day rescheduling is allowed without any added fees. (We tend to book out weeks in advance so this option is extremely rare).
The Lash Designory reserves the right to discontinue scheduling appointments with clients whom no show 2 times or continuously cancel under 24 hours.
Documented Emergencies are always taken into consideration. However, lack of babysitter, getting called into work, or car trouble are not considered emergencies that are exempts from our cancellation policy.
